Last July I spent a great weekend in Whistler with Chris and Alyssa, and decided to spend another weekend there this July.

After many months of working late nights and weekends, I decided I needed a little break. So, Dieter and I drove up to Whistler, BC. Not only is it a gorgeous area, it's a gorgeous drive up and back. :) I spent my weekend mostly alone, including many relaxing hours lounging under this tree. I ate picnics. I napped. I read my book. Ah, such a lovely life.

Sometimes I see all of the hardcore guys out there and feel like a wuss for not trying the downhill slopes. Then I see this gray-haired grandpa out there and REALLY feel like a wuss. Either way, I was content to lounge about for most of the weekend. I did do some biking (just around the village) and some hiking as well.

Yes, it was sunny and warm and I got quite sunburned. That doesn't mean the glacier isn't still covered in snow for the boarders who need their fix in July. (Always kind of odd to see snowboarders and skiers with all their gear wearing shorts instead of winter coats and gloves).

There's always eating!
So much to do in Whistler, and so much to avoid if you want to just hike, bike, or sit under the trees. My favorite part of the weekend was getting a massage. It wasn't a long one, but was long enough to do small wonders for my hurting-like-crazy-from-working-too-many-stressful-hours back.
Beautiful Downtown Bellingham
One our way home tradition mandated we stop for burritos as we passed through Bellingham (the potato burrito is fantastic!). This is perhaps one of my favorite traditions, and is a great way to end a relaxing weekend!
