November 8-13, 2003

November was a busy month of traveling this year... starting with a week long trip to the East Coast. I started off with a quick trip to Boston to see the sites and visit old friends from college including my old roommate Matt and my exboyfriend Chris. My stay in Baltimore was for work, but I got to see old friends then too. I didn't take tons of pics from the week, but do have a few to post. Most of the shots I took were from Boston's Freedom Trail... the walking tour of historical sights covering much of Boston's rich history as a town during the revolution. Enjoy!
Matt's in Boston for law school and it was great to catch up with him! It'd been a while since we saw each other... makes it hard when we both moved out of Texas a few years ago. Hopefully he'll get an internship in the NW... or maybe he and HK will move to the area after he graduates with his law degree.

Chris and Aimee got married about a year ago and moved from Austin to Boston. I hadn't seen Chris much since I moved out of Austin, so it was great to see him again and fun to get to know Aimee better. Both were great hosts and took time from their crazy work schedules to go exploring with me. :)

After Boston I headed to Baltimore for work. I was there back in June too. So, my current job is in Seattle and our national headquarters are in Baltimore (hence the trip). I used to work in Houston for my previous job at Enform, and crazily enough, they happen to have a project in Batlimore right now. So, I got to see both current and former coworkers all in one week. It an odd blending of worlds (tech and nonprofit) and was also an odd blending of names (Texans know me by my first name of Laura and more recent folks know me by my middle name of Catherine). So, I worked with the nuns during the day and then saw college and work friends in the evenings. Sameer and Jacky generously let me crash at their place (see the view from their apartment above), and John and Crow were able to come out for a few dinners (despite Crow's cold and their busy work schedules).

Billy and Alexa
I also ran into an unexpected couple of friends while at Whole Foods one night in Baltimore. I was searching for good salsa and I heard a voice calling my name. It turned out to be none other than Billy Corbett and his wife Alexa. Billy and I went to school and had classes together from 6th grade all the way through college at UT when we both graduated. Alexa was a friend of mine from the Business School and somehow she and Billy started dating senior year of college. Last I heard Billy was heading somewhere for med school, and it turns out they both moved together to Baltimore where he's now completed med school and is working on his residency. It took me a minute to place their faces in Whole Foods... I was not expecting to run into an old classmate from when I was 12 years old! What fun!

All in all, it was a lovely trip. Work was good. Friends were good. What more can you ask for? :)
