Pearl Jam... are they not the band you have to love? I remember back in high school when they said "screw off corporations!" and sold tickets independently so fans didn't have to make huge companies rich just to see a band they love. Sadly, that time I remember, tickets went on sale on Mothers Day, and the phone circuits couldn’t handle it, and it sold out in minutes without little old me getting any tickets. In fact, all of their shows I tried to get tickets to always sold out instantly. Well, Peal Jam continues to warm my heart many years later. :) They're playing a benefit concert here in Seattle in December and the proceeds of the $36 (very affordable!) tickets go to a fabulous list of area nonprofits and schools. This morning the show sold out in about 15 minutes, and I was lucky enough to get tickets! I’m not always a big believer in destiny, but it’s nice when things work out like this. The first Pearl Jam show I ever get to see is going to be in Seattle and will benefit a fabulous list of area nonprofits (see below)! Couldn’t get any better! Btw, if grunge fans or friends from home want to join me for the show, I have one extra ticket to the sold out 12/8 show. Let me know. Even more beautiful than the low ticket price and the nonprofits it supports... when the show just sold old this morning in just minutes, they added an entire second concert date and released more tickets since the demand was so high from fans. These boys are saints in my mind… right up there with the Indigo Girls as far as social conscious musicians able to connect to fans and use their powers for good not evil. Today, all my love today is channeled to Eddie Vedder. :)
Last night Andrew and I went to the Pearl Jam concert and it was fantastic! One reason I went was because Pearl Jam performed for free and ticket sales benefited lots of nonprofits around the Northwest. Another reason I went was because they rocked! So did Steve Earl who opened the set for them! Anyway, must get working. More later!

Hmmm... So it seems I never wrote more later. Ah well.

Misc pictures... enjoy!

It was a sold out full house at the Key Arena and the tickets I got weren't bad. They weren't floor seats, but they weren't upper balcony either. Mezzanine is a nice medium. :)

Here's a glimpse of the opening band called Brad. I didn't particularly dig them or care too much about them one way or the other.

Steve Earl was next up on stage and he was fabulous. He totally rocked! I think Pearl Jam picked him for this benefit show since he's also involved in politics and a vocal supporter of many great causes.

After Steve Earl, Pearl Jam took to the stage, much to the crowd's delight!

Thanks to my new camera, I was able to zoom in and get some pictures of the band. However, it took me the first two acts to adjust the settings enough to get some decent pictures. :)

Before the concert I was wondering if they were going to play all new songs since they just released a new CD. However, I was pleasantly surprised when they came on stage and began the set with a few classics from Ten.

Eddie's the man! When singing and playing, he rocked.

However, it was additionally nice to see him take time between songs to chat with the crowd.

The finale of the show was pretty entertaining... lots of jumping around and long riffs! Mike even bashed his guitar to bits and pieces. What a rock show! (Sadly, I didn't get any pictures of it since I wasn't expecting it and it happened so fast).

Overall, I'd give Pearl Jam's live show 5 stars. It was a fun event!
