Crow's visit was lots of fun for me, and hopefully for her too! Was great to have the weekend to hang out... we did a couple of the requisite tourist things, but then spent time checking out the neightborhoods, hitting the clubs, and checking out the parks.

Center of the Universe
The Republic of Fremont, self-proclaimed "Center of the Universe" has tried to secede from the US on numerous occasions. It's an artists haven and this rocket, recovered after the Cold War, perches on a building as an official stop on the neighborhood walking tour.

Wandering Fremont...
Thanks to all of the artists, the Fremont neighborhood is full of funky little shops and fun restaurants. Crow liked this sign so it's posted here just for her. :)

My Favorite Statue!
The "Waiting for the Interurban" statue is my favorite in the whole world! It's a piece of interactive public art... the community is encouraged to dress up the trolley people, waiting at their fictional stop for the fictional train that will never come.

Lenin
Controversial statue... some people don't like the former Communist leader standing over Fremont, other people recognize it as an important piece of art. (It's actually believed to be the only art ever made of Lenin portrayed with guns and fire instead of the usual hat or books). Either way, appreciated or not, it does prove that art outlives politics.

Pike Place Market
Everyone's heard of it, seen it in commercials, or read about it. Yes, it's the touristy fish, produce, and flower market... but it's awesome... for locals and tourists both. Added bonus: original craftworks and street performers. :)

The kitties
Despite the neglected kitties occasional behavior slip-ups, they were still quite adorable and very sweet.

Backdoor (Ultra) Lounge
Ross' brother Scott suggested the place and we actually liked it a lot. Like a true backdoor lounge, you have to go to the alley and find the door before you can enter. The inside was loud but had three way cool, laid back rooms in addition to (crowded) dance space. Here, Crow makes a new friend.

The weird dancing guy
This guy was dancing on top of the tables and Elisa decided to join him. I think he kinda surprised her when he pulled up the shirt to share the nipples... how lovely!

Budding romances?
Was tonight the night dreams were made of? It was a question, but the answer was 'not necessarily.'

The other drunk dancing guy
While Elisa, Rod, and Tawni all got phone numbers at the end of the evening, I was the only one who actually had drinks bought for them by an admirer (see left). :) He's not my type, and I don't even drink, but it was some consolation.

Happy Couple
Chris and Elisa met and seemed pretty content. They actually ended up dating for a few months... who knew?

Discovery Park
While the weather was mostly nice for the first few days, it definitely turned cool by Saturday. Still didn't stop us from hitting our final stop on the tour - Discovery Park. We hiked around a bit, found out where the guys play Ultimate, and checked out the beach lighthouse...
