MTV, Choose or Lose, and Rock the Vote
As most every breathing person who has cable knows, MTV is doing their Choose or Lose cross country tour, working with the Rock the Vote organization.

Well, MTV and Rock the Vote hit my hometown Austin, TX on Thursday and I was lucky enough to get to work as a volunteer for the two groovy organizations. Friends and I volunteered to stand in the 30 degree weather for 5 hours to register voters and to have people sign a pledge to get out there and get active and vote. It rocked!

It was way cool and a whole lot of fun. We ran around regestering people, grooving to tunes, meeting people and making friends, hanging out in front of the awesome MTV Choose or Lose tour bus... generally just having a good time, despite the cold weather. (Believe it or not, after standing out there for five hours, I did get a sunburn... oh well).

And if it wasn't enough that we got to hang out and have fun with such cool people all day, we registered hundreds of voters and did a some good for our community too. Oh, and according to a bunch of the people there, I even got on TV... but I don't know. I didn'y get to see it. 

               Rock the Vote is dedicated to:

                PROTECTING

                freedom of speech,

                EDUCATING 

                young people about issues
	        that affect us, and
                
                MOTIVATING

                young people to participate by 
                registering, voting and           
                speaking out.
